Caldwell of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 50mm, heavy 18K gold original HC with initials to front, gold cuvette bearing Ekégren and retailer markings, white enamel SS dial with gold foil minute and seconds numerals, fancy gold Louis XV style hour and minute hands, SW-shift-locking-LS that is disengaged by closing the front lid which depresses a small tab to release the setting mechanism, fully capped lever escapement, likely 20J, fausses-côtes pattern nickel damascene, s#16991 within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 78.9 dwt (122.7 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, winds stiffly, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some typical mild micro-fine scratches, few small bits of oxide to steelwork; virtually flawless dial with few negligible micro-fine scratches; nearly mint hands though seconds-hand a replacement of different gilt color; case shows hardly any wear, dings to band at 8 and 11 with corresponding dings at adjacent location of edge of rear, ding to band at 9, small nick to band at 6, excellent engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal.
